Home textiles, also known as decorative textiles, together with clothing textiles, industrial textiles constitute three major sub-industries of the textile industry. Home textiles are mainly used in houses and public places, which can be divided into bedding, kitchen supplies, bathroom accessories and living room accessories by the use place. There are 5 home textile industrial cluster areas in China, including Guangdong Province, Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province and Shandong Province. They gradually found their own features to form a strong home textile industry chain. Up to the end of 2015, there were nearly 2,000 home textile enterprises whose annual sales revenue exceeded CNY 20 million. However, there were no less than 10,000 home textile enterprises whose annual sales revenue was under CNY 20 million. Based on the research of CRI, CR5 of China home textile industry was only 4.7% in 2015. That was to say there were low industry concentration rate and fierce competition in China home textile industry.
Major raw materials of home textile industry include cotton, chemical fiber, accessories, etc. Generally speaking, the cost of raw materials accounts for 50% of the total production costs of home textile enterprises. Therefore, it will exert a huge impact on home textile enterprises if there are changes in prices of raw materials.
Textile is an important export product in China. With the downturn of demand in international market and the increasing costs of China textile industry in recent years, the export of China's home textiles showed the trend of decline. China has an entire textile industry chain from raw materials to finished products. Therefore, in the next 5 to 10 years, home textile products from Southeast Asia and other regions will not pose a fatal impact on Chinese enterprises.
